To clear this up. You can use a NTSC PS3 for runs since it is a region free console. The PAL version is faster for any category that starts from a fresh file. You can create a new profile on your PS3 to create a new PSN a set the country to one in a PAL region. Buy the game from that Playstation Store (you will need to get a PSN card from that region, easy to find online) and you'll have the PAL version of the game.
It has nothing to do with size of your TV/monitor. it has to do with overscan. Overscan will cut off part of the game and completely change the visual clue. Always check to make sure overscan is off.
The best way to have a category be created is to run it and tell others about it. The biggest problem with glitchless would be defining what is and isnt a glitch. Is plinking a glitch? I don't think so but others might.
Not that we know of currently. Still trying to investigate this.
I believe i need to make a new patch file. I'll do that shortly.
yea i'm just making it clear for anybody else who reads this. And its the early jetpack. in new game its flat out not possible atm.
There are a couple skips that are only really doable with each on. One was only recently found to be barely doable without. Unliimited ammo allows rockets to not run out and a tractor beam skip to be done. Invincibility to get the jetpack early and faster grind boots. Also out of bounds last longer because of it.
They aren't actually cheats. they are unlockables. Cheats were unintended for players to ever have, these are just given as rewards for collecting gold bolts.
The problem is that without the beta patch i currently crash after inputing a name, and if i go into the save i completed already i crash on area transfer.
EDIT: Updated my graphics drivers via GeForce and it stopped doing it.
Needed the beta update to even start the game, finished it and decided to check out the run and tried one of the clips. Could not get it, opted out of the beta patch and got it instantly but my game crashed. Should be looked into what is changing in this next update.
This is the farthest you can stand in the tree on the beta patch
the only real difference the hardware makes are the loads (which you can remove after the fact) and that a controller cannot fit a drop weapon button. This does not make the two platforms incomparable.
Also you answered your own problem. If you REALLY don't think consoles and PC should be compared then you can just have the dropbox say 360 and boom, you aren't comparing and you are 1st on the console version but you still don't have WR as your bio states.
To be fair, i've done glitchless as well and it's really not that interesting to watch or do. Plus if it were made into an actual category (in which it would be hidden away under misc since at most 2-3 people would ever run it) we would have to take time to determine what is and isn't a glitch and verify that no glitches are used throughout the run. Essentially it's more effort than it's worth.
The only one who doesn't run FM in this thread is Jumpy (as far as i know, but he has run so much i lose track), so i don't get where that statement is coming from. I could understand mistaking me but i do have a time i just dont want to submit till i have one i'm happy with.
Edit: Also this entire thing can be tucked away if Matt could PB again, this time without savestates for resetting.
If the pastebin is true then there wasn't really a harm with it but it should still be disallowed but his run kept. Basically the emulator should not have an advantage over the actual console itself, be it a quick reset or RNG manipulation. For RTA my opinion will always be to disallow savestates since consoles will never have that and it causes different advantages.
